The Professional Supervision program trains practitioners to provide mature, ethical supervision. Whether working one-on-one or with groups, in person or online, supervisors learn to create safe and supportive supervision where accountability and mature ethical praxis can flourish. This training strengthens resilience and sustainability for those serving across the caring professions and provides a reflective and reflexive learning environment.
Established in 2021 as a direct response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, the program reflects a commitment to safety, integrity, and care at the highest level. Working with student practitioners from a wide variety of contexts, this program trains chaplains, health-care workers, educators, ministers, spiritual directors, well-being and spiritual care practitioners, and others in professional caring professions.
Students will be trained to provide supervision that protects the vulnerable and contributes to sustainable, healthy working communities, committed to providing trust and compassion.

It equips therapists, pastors, chaplains, aged-care workers, educators, and other leaders to provide supervision that protects the vulnerable, empowers workers, and builds communities marked by trust and compassion.
The Professional Supervision program celebrates multi-lingual, trans-cultural students. The program is designed to be accessible to leaders whose first language is not English and those serving in culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

This program supports those who serve others across ministry, chaplaincy, health, education, leadership, mission, and other caring fields, helping them strengthen their professional practice through reflective and accountable supervision. Graduates continue their work within organisations and denominations, or as independent practitioners. Graduates may serve within organisations/denominations or as independent practitioners.

This award equips graduates to function as professional supervisors. It provides the knowledge and skills for structured, theologically reflective supervision of individuals and groups in caring professions (such as ministry, health, education, leadership) using experiential learning, ethical practice, and cultural awareness.
This award equips graduates to function as professional supervisors in the Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Companioning sector. It provides the knowledge and skills for structured, theologically reflective and reflexive supervision using experiential learning, mature ethical practice, and cultural awareness. Students in this stream will participate in units that give particular attention to contemplative praxis and discernment.
The University of Divinity Professional Supervision program is recognised as a Registered Supervisor Training Program by the Australasian Association of Supervision (AAOS).
The Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision is a Registered Supervisor Training Program with the Australasian Association of Supervision (AAOS).
These awards provide pathways to further University of Divinity research degrees, including Master of Philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy, and Doctor of Professional Practice.
Fees are set annually by the University of Divinity. FEE-HELP may be available to eligible students. Please refer to current UD fee information.
If you are a new student, you’ll need to apply for admission to your chosen program, following the steps outlined below:

Each applicant for a Professional Supervision award must complete a satisfactory interview before admission.
After a satisfactory interview, you will be contacted and invited to proceed with the course.
If you are already a student of the Professional Supervision program and you are continuing your study, please use the Re-enrolment form for continuing students.
