Two years ago, Rev Meewon Yang OAM completed the Professional Supervision program at the University of Divinity — an experience she describes as both transformative and empowering, especially for those serving in culturally diverse ministry settings.
Meewon shares that the course offered far more than academic formation. The lecturers and tutors created a learning environment that was “academically rigorous, deeply respectful, and genuinely responsive to cultural diversity.” As a pastor from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background herself, she found this approach invaluable.
Throughout the program, Meewon experienced significant personal and professional growth. The course equipped her with practical supervisory skills and strengthened her understanding of how LOTE (Languages Other Than English) pastors navigate ministry within their own cultural contexts.
Today, Meewon serves as a professional supervisor for CALD pastors, mentoring and supporting leaders who face unique cultural dynamics in their ministry. She sees a growing need for more supervisors who bring intercultural experience, cultural humility, and deep understanding to this vital work.
